Overview

eFileBusiness helps US companies stay compliant with state filings such as annual reports, meeting minutes and statements of information. LogicSpark built the software behind it: the customer filing flow on web and mobile, the admin console for the operations team, the search API that finds a business by name, and the data pipelines that keep that search current.

The challenge

A filing product lives or dies on two things. The customer has to finish the filing without help, often on a phone, so every step must ask one clear question. And the team has to find the right business record instantly across a very large dataset of US companies, which is far bigger than a typical app database. The data also includes real business and contact details, so it has to stay out of anything shown publicly, including this case study.

What we built

• A guided filing flow that greets the business by name and walks the owner through one question per screen: confirm where the annual meeting was held, enter officer details such as the chief executive, add or confirm directors, review every answer on one page, then pay.
• The same flow as a mobile app built with Ionic and Angular, so owners can file from their phone.
• An admin console in Vue and Vite for the operations team, packaged with Electron as a desktop app.
• A search by name API on Express and Mongoose, deployed serverless on Vercel, over a MongoDB dataset of about 297 GB.
• Data pipelines for importing company data from third-party sources, migrating MongoDB collections, scraping filing data and running export jobs, with infrastructure defined in AWS CloudFormation.

eFileBusiness runs its customer filing flow, mobile app, admin console and business search on software LogicSpark built, with heavy data work kept in separate pipelines instead of inside the customer apps.
