Evenly

A native iOS app for splitting shared expenses with friends and groups: itemized splits, repeating bills, one-tap settle up and monthly spending insights, with a Vue and Firebase web version.

Evenly project

Overview

Evenly is an expense-splitting app for people who share costs: flatmates, trips and friend groups. LogicSpark built the native iOS app in Swift and SwiftUI and a companion web version on Vue and Firebase. The app answers one question at a glance: who owes whom, and how much, across every group and friend.

The challenge

Splitting money is simple until it is not. A dinner is paid by one person and shared unevenly, rent repeats every month, and a weekend trip collects dozens of small expenses across several people. The app had to keep every balance correct as expenses pile up, explain each number so nobody argues about it, and make paying back a debt a single step. It also had to feel like a first-class iOS app, fast and familiar, so people actually log expenses when they happen.

What we built

  • A home screen that shows the net position first: how much you are owed and how much you owe, with per-person balances and your groups below.
  • Groups (for example a shared flat or a weekend trip) with their own expense feed, balances and insights tabs, plus quick actions to add an expense, settle, invite members by QR code and edit the group.
  • Repeating expenses for recurring bills like rent, with the next due date shown in the group.
  • Itemized expense detail: who paid, the date and group, and an itemized split that shows each person's share, so every balance can be traced back to the expense behind it.
  • A settle up flow with a numeric keypad that records a payment between two people and settles the full balance.
  • A friends view that sorts people into "owe you" and "you owe", with the group each balance comes from.
  • A monthly spending view with a month switcher, total spent, a comparison with the previous month, a budget option and filters for personal and shared expenses.
  • A floating "Add Expense" action and a five-tab layout (Home, Groups, Spending, Friends, Activity) built in SwiftUI.
  • A web version built with Vue and Firebase.

Results

Evenly ships as a polished native iOS product with a matching web version, covering the full loop from logging an expense to settling it. It is the kind of work we take on through iOS application development and mobile application development. See more of our work in case studies.
