IPWhere
An IP intelligence API for developers: geolocation, network, ISP and cloud detection in one REST call, with a JavaScript SDK and a self-serve developer site.

Overview
IPWhere is an IP intelligence API built for developers. Send an IPv4 or IPv6 address to a simple REST endpoint and get back where it is, who runs the network and whether it belongs to a cloud provider. LogicSpark built the API, the JavaScript SDK and the developer website with a live lookup, documentation and self-serve API keys.
The challenge
Developers pick an API in minutes, usually before they ever talk to anyone. The product had to show its real response on the first screen, explain every field without a sales call, and hand out a working key in one step. Behind that, each response had to pull together several data sources into one clean JSON object and say which sources it used.
What we built
- A REST API that returns, in a single call: city, region, country, postal code, time zone, local time, UTC offset and coordinates with an accuracy radius; organisation, ASN, domain and connection type; CIDR block, IP range, RIR registry, allocation date and status; and IPv4 or IPv6 detection with decimal and hexadecimal forms.
- Cloud detection that flags AWS, GCP, Azure, DigitalOcean and other datacenter IPs, so an app can treat datacenter and proxy traffic differently at login.
- Ready-made Google Maps links in each response for search, place view and directions, and a data transparency field that lists the sources behind the answer.
- A live lookup on the home page: type any IP and switch between the raw JSON and a Leaflet map on OpenStreetMap that shows the point and its accuracy circle.
- Use case guides for e-commerce (shipping, currency and tax by country), fraud prevention (logins from unexpected countries or datacenter IPs), content geo-restriction, analytics, ad targeting and location-based access rules.
- A self-serve key flow: enter an email and get a free key, with a free tier of 1,000 requests a day and no credit card. The site states that emails and keys are not stored in plain text.
- A JavaScript SDK and documentation pages, so a developer can go from first lookup to a working integration without help.
Results
IPWhere ships as a complete developer product: API, SDK, documentation and a site that sells itself through a live demo and a free key. It is the kind of API and backend work we take on through backend development services, and the same product thinking we bring to custom web application development.
